Jaw Crushers - Quarry Crushing Process
In order to produce an end product which
can be used by the various industries in
need of aggregate, it is important that
the quarried material passes through a crushing
process. Each stage of this process produces
progressively smaller sized stones. These
stones are then screened into size categories,
each of which will be used as a raw material
within a different trade.
Jaw Crushers within the Crushing
Process
The primary crushing of the stone is normally
carried out by jaw crushers. These jaw crushers
consist of a set of jaws, one of which remains
stationary and the other moves back and
forth. The crusher is narrower at the top
than at the bottom and the feedstock is
fed in at the top and the motion of the
moveable jaw is set according to the size
and type of feedstock which is being crushed.
The size of the crushed stone which passes
through the jaws is partly governed by the
gap set at the bottom of the jaws, though
larger size rocks can pass through if the
rock being crushed is in slab form or elongate
in shape. The output from the jaw crushers
is then fed into the secondary crushers,
such as gyratory or cone crushers.
