Jaw Crushers - Explained
Jaw Crushers -
for those inexperienced within the quarrying
industry jaw crushers simply sound painful.
In fact, jaw crushers are an integral part
of the whole quarrying process and with
the average family using around a lorry
full of aggregates every year, jaw crushers
are vastly important to every person living
within the UK. Below we take a closer look
at jaw crushers.
Jaw Crushers – Explained
Jaw crushers are used for the crushing
and the processing of hard primary, secondary
or recycled feedstocks such as rock and
concrete. Jaw crushers are best suited to
reduce large or odd-shaped debris quickly
from construction/demolition projects to
a manageable size. The crushing of the feedstock
is achieved by a pair of vertical jaws,
one of which remains stationary and the
other moves back and forth. The jaws are
positioned so there is a wide opening at
the top known as the gape and a narrow discharge
aperture at the bottom set to the desired
output size. The jaw’s motion is chosen
according to the type and size of feedstock.
As the feedstock moves down towards the
discharge outlet it is crushed smaller and
smaller until reaching its optimum reduction
size.
Jaw Crushers – Portable
Plants
Technological advances in the 1960’s
brought about the first portable jaw crushers.
The primary benefit of portable jaw crushers
is the obvious ease of changing location.
However, portable plants are also designed
to receive feed directly from an endloader,
which eliminates the expense of haul trucks.
